  1. This is a great place to live and work.Easy to get licensed.Scope of practice is less, work alot less than in US, 6 weeks holidays, paid alot more.healthcare is in turmoil atm with funding so i'd get in asap Qld health is still hiring foriegn nurses even though others are being made redundant.personally if i was moving from the USA i'd live in queensland.
  2. Same rules still have to get paeds ob and clinical .phiilipines and Australia don't meet standards
  3. I would get your information from ahpra you can be licensed in Australia as a EEN with what you are asking.LPN from USA can also be licensed here.you would only have to complete another 1.5 yrs but your RN degree would be deficient to meet USA and Canadian standards
  4. Australia may be a better option.you will make way more money in Australia than you can make in the usa
  5. I personally think Australian nursing is a lot better.Nurses are less stressed.Patients get free health care here and although we get wingers, American patients I found more demanding.Get em in get em out.Our working conditions are much better here.I work in the public system. We get 6 weeks paid holidays.double/triple time some holidays.one day paid rostered off a month.50/75 percent extra on our base pays working nights, weekends. We work shift work which is a huge difference from the USA.Australian nurses have more autonomy than US nurses and we provide a lot more hands on care. It's less territorial thinking someone's going to take your job.ICU nursing over here we do everything including vents, suctioning/meds.In Australia we draw up most of our drugs and have to know how to calculate, where as where I worked in the US we had Pyxis machines and antibiotics hung on a saline bag.I think US trained Nurses would find preparing meds a challenge, and a lot of the drugs are the same just different name used in the class and doses are less for some drugs.I love working in Australia.I believe our lifestyle, wages, conditions are the best in the world.Education wise we can get a 3 year Bachelor degree for $10,000 but Australian trained BN degree is not recognized as meeting US standards, but our clinical standards rock!!!
  6. I worked for 15 years in the USA,came here no problem.biggest difference american training is a lot harder, more science driven.american nursing is more thorough in that it is more head to toe disease/condition driven with a lot more supports and less automony
  7. Any nurse coming from the USA is more than over qualified to work in Australia.
  8. You definitely will qualify as an RN
  9. Might want to check with medi serve a good travel agency. No NCLEX or tests required here for licensure.some people have had to sit islets???english test even though you are from USA they might make you take it but at least you can prove all your schooling is in English.
  10. You should have no problem getting licensed.all RN's in Australia hold bachelor degrees but you will get licensed without any problem.Australia lets ADN get licensed in australia.I am a dual citizen so not sure about immigration side of things
  11. So to whine.l'm just a little frustrated especially when CA BON and cgfns get all the money when they know you will be deficient.Maybe the boards should have disclaimers the following countries do not meet min us standards.apply and pay fees with caution.lol
  12. The wa state Bon gave me the names of schools.i did my LPN in the USA.i am a us citizen.i did all my prerecs in USA.completed my bachelor of nursing here in Australia.they will not let me take the two classes I need and no school in the us will let you take just the two classes needed. So it's almost impossible. Then there's the issue the try and tell you you are an international student. It is so frustrating and unfair.Maybe the boards need to look at case by case situations. An ADN can come here and get registered as an RN.i worked hard for my bachelor degree.Just frustrated I will have to be an LPN and my degree counts as nothing.Just a money making scheme
  13. I'm in Australia. This cgfns is bogus when they want to take your money and you already know you won't meet standards.we are deficient in peds/ob as midwifery is an extra year after the bachelor degree and child and family course doesn't meet as some of us didn't have clinicals. Is there any state in the USA that will actually license you as an RN if you are from the Phillipines or Australia.I did my LPN in the USA so at least I have that license.Just wondering if the peds/ob component of the LPN would satisfy the RN requirements
