RN (ADN) to MSN

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum so please bear with me with the silly questions. I'm an associate degree RN with +20 yrs of experience interested in pursuing a bridged RN to MSN program online. I have a moderate degree of learning disability dyslexia and ADD. While in school I had to work twice as hard as everyone else. Now that I'm married with kids and working, I'm not sure how I can manage school with my learning disability.

So here comes the silly question, is there an RN to MSN online program that doesn't have exams/tests/quizzes but just research paper? I do terrible in timed exams/tests because I have to overcome the dyslexia by reading the questions a few times.

The research I've done here in this forum is that Grand Canyon doesn't require exams just papers. Not sure if that's true. Is there any other ones out there?

    It would probably depend on the type of MSN you want to pursue. A degree focused on education or research will probably have fewer tests and more papers. You might also look into what type of support the school offers to people with learning disabilities. Legally, I think they are supposed to make accommodations for people in your situation.

    You might just need to call the different schools you are interested in and ask what sort of support systems they have in place for people with learning disabilities. You might consider a part time program since taking fewer classes at a time will allow you more time to focus on your assignments.

    At my school a friend ended up with a concussion after a fall. She was allowed extra time for her final exam. You should just try talking to the different schools to see how accommodating they will be.
