Hello, I am new to Allnurses and wanted to ask how important is your GPA while taking prerequisites? I am currently taking mine and have a C average with the three classes I have taken so far. How is the Riverside program, is it hard to get in? Any other helpful related information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

It's not as competitive as the other programs in the area but not super easy either. I would still apply because you never know unless you try :). I would definitely study for the TEAS V using the ATI study guide because you would need to get a decent score on that test. It really depends on how many people apply but I say to go for it and remember any other pre-reqs you still need to take just try to do really well and it we'll help boost your GPA.
Wow it's been almost a year later! I am still working on my prereqs. I only take 2 classes at a time. I should have the required classes to apply done by August. I am still going to try and have brought my GPA up some.

I am trying to figure out if the required classes will change for the next group to be accepted. Riverside is my top choice
They have changed. You now have to have A&P 1&2, and nutrition. The day classes are only open to students that go through ODU, the night and weekend classes are open to students who apply only through Riverside.
Ok, nutrition has been added, A&P 1, 2 were always required. Looks like to applicant pool will be much larger now. Not thrilled about that.
Well before you could have the a&p class that was five credits and at my school they have a five credit a&p which is only one class. Instead of having the a&p 1 , 2. But yea more people.
I'm thrilled about being able to receive an associates verses the diploma. Not thrilled about needing to go through ODU for day classes and the amount of people.
That is awesome! Where is A&P 5 credits, I got a C in A&P 1 so I have to retake it. If I could bang out 5 credits in one class that would be ideal!
Pratt cc but Riverside no longer accepts it. You have to have the a&p 1, and 2 now with there new changes. You received a C in a&p and are retaking it. C is accepted. What is the reason to retake it if you don't mind me asking. I have a B so far in that class. It's hard.
Most schools around here are super duper competitive and you *generally* wont get in with a C in a core science class. Almost all of the people in my A&P class were taking it for the 2nd or 3rd time trying to get that A. I made the mistake of taking it in the shortened summer session.
