Rio Salado Classes Vs. In person Classes

I think some people here have experience in taking both the rio classes and in person. I just want to know the work load difference.. and what homework is like for in person classes..

Thanks!

I have taken both. Lots of both!!! Rio all depends on the class that you are taking, and the instructor that you get. The science classes are alot of work, while most of the others are fairly easy. While all sections of the class are the same no matter the instructor, the hand graded assignments (papers and short answer questions) can be graded really easy or really tough. I took BIO 202 in the 8 wk accelerated and bombed it the first time. The male instructor hated my essays (and that class is a TON OF WORK!!!) but when I retook it (immediately) with a different instructor and turned in the exact same essays, she loved them! From that experience, I don't think that they should even offer the sciences in an 8 week format. Each week you have to read 100 pages, do a quiz or two, a short answer assignment, and write a paper!

Nursing school was a piece of cake compared to Rio. I took every pre-req through Rio. The science pre-reqs were lots and lots of work. There are no hints from instructors what to study - every topic is fair game - hence, the studying is very intense. I found the non-science class (psych 101) to be complete joke. So...expect science classes to be not too difficult but very time intensive. After Rio, you will sleep your way through nursing school...

I agree with the Math class... LOL barely got a C but a C = continue right? So I took all my pre-reqs at Rio and Nursing school starts in January for me... I hope you are right Stopnik :D Also I had the same experience with the instructors for BIO. I took BIo201 with male instructor in the 16 week format and got a C...he hated my essays. I took the 8 week class for Bio 202 with a female instructor she loved my essays and I got a High B... it totally makes all the difference in the instructors!!! I never thought it would in an online course but I guess its true for college period. Good luck!!

I took all my pre-reqs with Rio and found that they were not that difficult as some are saying. I just finished mat 142 and got an A in the class. There is a lot studying though, but if you stay on top of it (which can be a challenge with online) you will pass.:D But I did only take one or two classes at a time.
