I am currently taking BIO156 through rio salado online, I take my midterm tomorrow. BIO156 has been a lot of work for an online class. The threads that I have seen on this have been a few years old so I wanted to go ahead and ask. I am looking into taking BIO201 online through rio salado, and wanted too see if anyone here has taken it recently and what their thoughts are. I would like some feedback on the teachers as well ( whos bad, whos good) so if you could PM their names that would be great.
I cant decide if I want to take it online or in person. I work 4 10 hour shifts as an MA, have a 5 year old, and also breed my mastiffs so my schedule is kind of crazy so if I can manage it online that would be great.

I took Rio Bio 156. BRUTAL! I had an A going into the Midterm and Final and both tests were BRUTAL. The instructor basically told us to review the whole book, anything could be on the test.
I decided that RIO science was not the direction I wanted to go. I ended up with a 'B', and to be honest was grateful, the class was that tough.
I have since taken Anatomy 1 and 2 through Phoenix College and received an 'A' for both. I felt I learned more and the class was actually manageable. BTW - I have 5 children and work 20 hours a week.

I took BIO 201 & 202 at Phoenix college as well. I learned so much! I hate RIO.

I also took Bio 1 and 2 at Phoenix College ONLINE and received A's. I like that format much better than Rio. FYI a real good tip is to find audio recordings of Anatomy lectures online. You can download and listen to them on your mp3. I listened to them in my car on my 45 minute commute to work.
A lot of people will tell you how they think online courses do not teach you as much as in person classes, especially for lab work. But, I study really well on my own. (Some programs may not accept online anatomy labs...but ASU does and, of course, Maricopa does as well...not sure about the other schools...so be sure to check that out if you plan to apply to a different program...especially out of state programs.) The audio lectures were very helpful to bring the class feeling into an online program.
I was able to download the classes from a different professor's website at Phoenix College. I was hoping to take his course, but he ended up not teaching online that semester. I know Berkeley has online audios you can download as well. Don't worry that the audios are not from your professor. The idea here is to learn the concepts and by hearing it as well as reading it, I think you grasp it faster and better.
Good luck!
