Hey everyone, I'm getting ready to apply to Rio Hondo in a few weeks to meet the March 2013 deadline for ADN. I know their selection is based off of a point system, so I was hoping that most of you who have been accepted for the Spring 2013 class could post your stats, just to get an idea of where I stand. Also, they don't tell you at the info session but how many points did those who get accepted have?? Thanks!!
I got accepted by the ADN program for Fall 2013 and I accepted it about two weeks ago, however, I got an offer from CSULA, too. So how should I deny the rio hondo nursing office? You guys got any ideas?[/quote']I think you should tell them the truth. That you got into a Bachelors vs ADN program. They should understand that you need to do what's best for your future. Trust me. There are plenty of people who wouldn't mind taking your spot.

I agree. It is nothing to stress about. They usually have a back up list of alternates that have applied, additionally, they usually have re-entry students that have previously failed and that room can be offered to them.

This is probably the best thing about Rio Hondo. I believe that this helps the underserved community. I am graduating tonight from RHC's ADN program and when I initially applied submitted everything I could and got in. I had:
AS and AA degree
LVN license
Acute Care experience as an LVN
IV/Blood Withdrawal certificate
BLS and ACLS cards
and Life Experience letters.
A in Anatomy
B in Phys
B in Micro
Hello!!! Im currently a second semester nursing student at rio hondo and these are the stats I had:AA degree from Rio Hondo
3 semesters of Spanish at Rio Hondo
Anatomy=B
Physiology=B
Microbiology=B
100+ hours of volunteer work in the NICU at St. Jude Hospital
EMT license
CNA license
Letter of recommendation from one of my teachers
Letter of hard life experience (I made up something very exaggerated but hey)
and I also stuck in my Deans List Certificate from Rio Hondo
and i think thats it from what I can remember. So as you can see I wasn't an A student in my prerequisites so thank god for the point system!! I took a CNA class during the summer and started working and took the Rio Hondo EMT class during the fall while I was waiting for application time in the spring for the nursing program. I only volunteered 3 hrs a week at the hospital the whole time I did the prerequisites so it wasnt stressful or anything. It took a lot of planning ahead but it was all worth it when I got in first try! Best of luck to all of you!!! Hope to see you around campus!!!
