Right when you thought you were ready !

I'm two weeks and 2 days into my graduate nursing orientation (I haven't even hit the floor) and the nerves are starting to set in. Our educators are phenomenal and our hospital is clearly dedicated to its GN program, so I'm more than happy, but I can't shake these butterflies ! One factor being that I'm trying to process everything and the second being, I'm studying for my upcoming NCLEX. To top it all off, the realization of the responsibility I hold, even as a GN, is humbling...and breathing down my neck like something out of a horror film. I'm trying to learn as much as I can with the time I have in the class, but I know I'll have to learn some things the hard way. Each time some enthusiastic nurse encourages me and give me tips, it's like I turn and see an additional reason to tread lightly or run for the hills. Working in a SNF as an LPN made me feel as though I was baptized by fire, so I'd be ready for this strange new world, but now I'm not so sure.

Specializes in school nurse.

It will get better. Really.
