Hello everyone! I went and spoke with someone from the Fairborn campus today about the LPN to RN program. I was impressed. They no longer require the HESI and they accept other college credits which will cut out about 6 of my classes. The one thing I am worried about it my loans, I know that it is expensive but I cannot pay a monthly payment if my loans don't cover everything. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it all works out and I can start my RN this October. :)

Missy, good luck to you. If you have any questions feel free to PM me on here. And bernardnv I believe you have to take a HESI entrance test to get in the program, but it's very easy and there is only math, reading, grammar, and vocab. They use a comprehensive ATI test at the end of Term 6, I don't believe you have to pass it in order to graduate, it just predicts how well you will do on NCLEX. I would call the school and talk to an admissions rep. They can give you better information. They also hold info sessions. That's what made me choose to go there. Good luck :)

Hey! i was thinking about doing the pn-rn program in oct. Are you getting any hospital clinicals? Are classes 5 days a week? What time do classes run? I'm trying to get some insight thanks for your time.

I am in Term 4 out of 6. It is a fast paced program, but it is good! Galen is very expensive. If you are considering going there, I would do my pre-reqs at a community college and then see if they transfer. It would save you so much time and money.

Hello. I would call and speak with a rep. They are a good start. It varies from term to term. I never go 5 days a week. We go to Southview Hospital for OB and either Grandview or Highland Co Hospital for 5th term. And it may change when you start should you choose to come, so I don't want to give false info. But I am in 4th term and it sucks! My class is really struggling and we are only halfway done. Hopefully you have a flexible job. I would work as less as you can because this term is very time consuming. I do homecare, so I set my own schedule. Good luck!

Decide on neither I would say. I did a lot of research and visited both schools, community college is worth the wait, trust me. In my area, unless you have connections or worked as a tech there before, no hospital will hire you with degrees from there.

That is not true. Kettering Health Network has several Hondros grads working for them. Also my good friend Lisa just got hired at Miami Valley and she attended the school and graduated this spring. Hondros has really stepped it up and made changes.

Other schools change schedules around at the last minute too. Sometimes things fall through at the last minute. You can't always blame the school itself. I don't think Hondros is the only one that is like that. I have seen changes over the last few years. Just because you lose a lot of people at the end of the program doesn't mean it's the school's fault. I think people are so quick to assume they are the reason students fail. Sometime people leave because of personal reasons or other circumstances beyond their control. I have had more good instructors than I have had bad. I hope you got to go somewhere that was better than your experience with Hondros and you are in good place in your career now :)

Hello. To those of you who are considering this school I would not recommend attending this college. I personaly just graduated from the LPN program and have found this place a horrific run business. The only way that I see this place getting positive reviews is from facualty logging on to write positive stuff. Schedules changed 48 hrs at the start of the term, teachers quitting in the middle of term, lost clinical sites and the list goes on. Over a dozen teachers quit over a course of two terms and the promise of NLN that was made two years ago has never been fulfilled. The class starts with about 80 students at the first term LPN and ends with about 20 graduating by 4th term.

It could be various things and again you can't point fingers at Hondros because people don't make it to the end. I think people are so quick to assume it's the school's fault the students fail. Students have to pull their own weight too. Especially outside of class. They have to take time out for school to study. That's not the instructor's fault if they don't use the time outside of class to study and really try to understand the material. That's the key to being successful in nursing school. They also offer free tutoring and many teachers have hours they set aside so their students can come and get more help. I hope you realize that too. I have had more good instructors than I have had bad. I hope you got to go somewhere that was better than your experience with Hondros and you are in good place in your career now :)

I must say Hondros really ropes you in with the Pollyanna style story you get from the admissions lady. Once you start however you are nickle and dimed all the time. You are treated like a 5 yr old and when you ask for help it is used against you. Clinicals are not located anywhere near where people live. Professors make threats of failing students. If you are a pretty girl then you can do whatever you want. Support staff are so rude and lazy. They charge 1000 for the computer, but you can go on Dell's website and get it for 1/2 the price. The uniforms are crap and cost 200 for 4 pair. You ask a question and no one knows the answer. BLIND LEADING THE BLIND RUN FROM HONDROS AND RUN FAR

I attend the program now and I am sorry, but you are totally off on most of this. Sorry you had a bad experience, but this is an excellent program. I feel prepared for the workforce. I am making it my job to let people know that the things they read on here are from a long time ago. The school has made many changes.

Do you still have a copy of the NUR 296 syllabus from when you were in the program? They have changed requirements for passing the class 3 months before I graduated and I an trying to get a copy of syllabi to compare and send to the OBN. Thanks!
