How do those of you with kids at home, bills to pay, etc do it? How do you find the time and the money to retrain for a nursing career? Do you do it a little at a time, or save save save and do it all at once?

Before I started my Nursing degree I saved up by working OS. That money didn't last and I found myself working full time and studying fulltime. I had to cut back on a lot of things, TV, sport and Me-time. Somehow I found time to coach my sons Rugby team and that became my fitness, Me-time, social outlet and quality family time rolled into one.
It isn't easy but if you prioritise, it can be done.
So you were able to take night/weekend classes? Or is your job flexible enough to work around classes?
I had work that was very flexible with hours, as long as the work was done. I worked nights, weekends and sometimes between lectures.

I am a student, a full time working man and a father/husband. I have a night job and i go to school during the day. Mostly it's my sleep that takes the hit . I get off of work at 7am and go to class. Get out of class around 11am four days a week. Go home and crash until about 2:30 or so before i have to get up to pick up the kids from school. So yeah, i feel your pain. Just gotta keep on keepin on. It'll all pay off in the end.
