Hello,
I was wondering if there are any RN’s who took chemistry 101 in the St. Louis & SW Illinois region (preferably a community college) who could recommend a good professor/college for this course? this semester I was taking a 5 credit hour chem 101 class and had to drop it due to getting a D- even though I was studying about 30 or so hours a week. I never took chemistry in high school and I am not the greatest at math. St Charles CC offers the allied health chemistry course that I’m considering, but need to make sure it transfers to a 4 year college. Anyways I am just very worried about retaking it. Anyone out there with any suggestions, names & etc? Thanks in advance!

The way to approach this is to look at the school you eventually want to enroll in and find out from THEM what CC courses would satisfy the requirement.
That might mean a lot of phone calls or emails- but it's honestly the best way for you to not waste time and energy.
PS: I failed Chem 101 the first time i took it- came back with another professor and got an A and have been a nurse for 40+ years now.
Thank you! Your suggestion is spot on. I’m retaking at as an evening course. Hopefully I’ll have better luck this time!?

For students in Missouri and neighboring states: If the course is listed as a MOTR course, then it MUST be accepted by MO 4 year public institutions. MOTR stands for "Missouri Transfer Guaranteed", a consortium which assures students will not lose credits when they transfer from one institution to another. For example, my general Chemistry course is listed as a MOTR course (MOTR Chem 150L) so it will be accepted by all public schools in MO.
For students who do not have a background in Chemistry, I usually recommend they take an introductory level Chemistry course before taking general Chemistry 1.
