Hi all, I am just looking for some advice on retaking classes to make my science GPA look for appealing for CRNA schools.
So what I am wanting to retake is A&P I & II, Chemistry, and Microbiology. I only class I really NEED to retake is Chemistry because I had a C and it has brought my science GPA below 3.0, which is about what most CRNA schools require for admittance. However, I want to retake the above classes also because I don't just want a 3.0, I would like somewhere in the range of 3.5. Added to that list, I only had to take General Chemistry for my BSN, but I need another Chemistry (Organic/Bio-organic) to fill most schools requirements. However, since I already have to retake Chemistry, I was going to take Chemistry I and II instead. Good idea? Bad idea? So those are 5 classes I would like to retake. And I'd like to get them finished within 3 semesters, taking 2 in Fall, 2 in Spring, and 1 in Summer or some variation of that.
Here is where I need advice the most. After I graduate from my BSN program (
Many of the sciences classes I have looked at in my area are 2-3 days lecture and 1 day lab, which some can be taken on a lecture day. I just don't know how I would go about asking my job for 3 specific days off every week. In interviews, do they ask you about if you need certain days off? Is is bad to say you do need specific days off?
If I do land a job in an ICU, I know the last thing an employer wants to hear is that I already have plans to leave the job in 1-2 years to go to CRNA school. So that's the problem I run into... Or even if I don't get into ICU right away, I would like to be in the ICU after a year of working as an RN, but I don't want to tell the non-ICU employer that I want to go to ICU either. I might seem fishy if I tell them I can't work some days because of class...
Advice? Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Either work nights and do school during the day or take online courses. I would not ask for specific days off unless you asked if they have people who work every weekend, which I have seen before. One job had the RN work every Sat and Sun for 12 hr shifts and paid them for 3 shifts but they also worked every weekend.

I took one year gen chem as it was required for ochem. I also took physics. I worked nights and took classes three days a week. I don't think you should take micro over or a and p. Do grad level phys instead.
Thanks morificeko and missnurse01!
I guess I didn't think about working nights, but that is a very good suggestion! If I were to take graduate level science courses, would those factor into my science GPA for admissions? Or would it just show that I can take graduate level science courses?

Both really. If you need to retake C's then by all means do so. They will avg out all grades. Grad classes look good as well. I retook chemistry. It was my only science C and it was 5 credits, retook and got an A. I would say it depends on your GPA.
