Resurrection University Fall 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi all,

I am new here and have found the forum to be very informational. I decided to start a thread for Resurrection's fall 2012 applicants. I think it would be good to keep in touch throughout the process, so if you have any questions or comments feel free to express them here. I already submitted my application, transcripts and essay, all I need is to take the TEA's test. I'm taking it in February and am really nervous because I haven't even started studying. Has anyone taken it yet? How was it?

I am also applying to 2 other programs:

Loyola's ABSN program

Truman's Associates in Nursing program

I am debating on applying to UIC's GEP program, DePaul's MENP program and Rush's GEM program.

If anyone else is applying to these, please let me know! Thanks & good luck to all.

Mono2010,

I am also in the E/W course and work about 27hrs/wk. This was my first week. We just had our first TSS1 session, and it was very informative because we got to heard from other RESU students who are about to graduate. would you be willing to answer some questions that I might have in the future. Could you message me your resu email address?

Hi I'm a prospective spring 2014 student... How was everyone's first days of class???

This first week has likely been a wake up call for anyone who isn't a serious student or is a half a$$ about doing schoolwork. It is VERY fast paced and very intense. For example, we have a test over 8 chapters of pathophysiology next week. School is 8 hours a day many of the days. All that said, I absolutely love it! I like all my teachers and I'm excited for clinicals! Sometimes I have to sit back and marvel that I'm here! I'm doing this! Woo hoo!

Well said!! Very inspirational!

Hi everyone! Looks like no one has been on here in a while...but I'll leave my comment anyway:) I'm considering a few nursing schools and RU is one of them. How does their guaranteed admissions process work?? My current GPA including all the classes I've taken in college is a 3.35. My science GPA is a 4.0 so far since I got A's in both sections of A&P but I haven't taken Chem and Micro yet and I'm hoping to get A's in both of those as well! How many seats are available in each cohort? Thanks in advanced for any replies!

The guaranteed admission is described on the school's web site. Your grades are enough but you'd have to also get an 80 or above on the TEAS exam. This fall's cohort had about 65 in daytime and another 20 in the evening program.

Thanks for replying so quick!! Also an other question...I heard that RU is moving to Chicago? Has this already happened or is it still in Oak Park? I probably won't be applying until next fall because I need to finish 2 science courses and math. I found a little bit of info on it but not much. I thought maybe a student would have more info.

Again, have you gone to the school web site? Info on the move is there. Some pictures and press releases too. The move is in December.

I have been to the website and I was on it for quite a while. But some of the pages kept giving me errors. But thanks!

I know there is an open house in April at the new location, however you'd probably have applied by then. So my suggestion would be to go ahead and submit your app even with a few courses outstanding, because once you're app is in the system you can still add to it and finish it up, but you'll also go and meet with an admission counselor for a transcript review. Call admissions too. The ladies in there are sooooo helpful and will know!

I was finally able to find the area of the website that had the moving updates and everything...It looks awesome! It will be about a 45 minute drive for me, but I think it would be worth it I really want to go! I'm going to be applying for the spring 2014 term (so a little over a year from now). At my community college, if you didn't place into college level math you have to take 2 developmental math courses. I'm doing both next semester and they're both 8wks long - I was bad at math in high school and haven't taken it in college yet...and I'll be taking micro. Over the summer I'll take foundations of math. And then in the fall I'm going to take chem, stats, and the computer class - and this will be the semester I'll be applying. I know they say its okay to have one outstanding science course when you apply to the program as long as you send your midterm grade, but is it okay that I'll still be working on 2 other courses when I apply? I'm really pushing myself to get A's in my remaining classes because I want the guaranteed admission and be super prepared for the TEAS test.

There are people who apply with a science outstanding as well as another one or two courses. It's best if everything is done but if you're finishing it all up, it's ok. However, they will not evaluate and consider your application until ALL items are completed. You might want to take all your transcripts you have now, as well as the classes you plan on taking and go meet an admissions person to make sure you'll have everything you need and if it transfers equally. They will help you come up with a game plan.
