I've worked for the same hospital since graduating from nursing school five years ago. I'd like to update my resume but need help getting started. Anyone have tips or suggestions, on-line resources, examples of experienced nurses' resumes?

Thanks! :redbeathe

be honest but put yourself in the best light that you can

list the different departments that you have worked

write down the education, include inservices and ceus

write down any citations for good nursing

yearly reviews, see if yo can get a copy, sometimes these things get lost or sent to some warehouse and are impossible to get a hold of if esp if the person writing them has moved on to another job

check and see if personal references are up to date

you now have professional nursing references include

make a disc so yo can update if you need to

I believe that it's Monster that has a computer program out now that you can buy. I saw it at Staples. I don't know how much it costs though.

Strangely, the best advice I got for resumes and cover letters is coming from my microcomputer class. Also, buy heavier weighted paper as it looks more professional.
