Nursing Students General Students

Hello, everbody I finished my nursing program and I made it! I will be graduating in a couple of weeks. It has been a long hard road and at times I didn't think I would make it!! Now that clinicals and lecture are over I am finding myself very sad but at the same time relieved! The next step is passing the NCLEX. However, my question is does anybody have an example of what a nursing resume should look like or is their a book that someone can recommend? I would greatly appreciate it! It is time to enter the field that I have been studying for and I want to land the job of my dreams but I am stumped on what on how to write my nursing resume. Any comments or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there! Congratulations on completing your program! Here is a link I used. http://www.udel.edu/CSC/NurseResumes.pdf It worked well for me. Good luck!

And dont forget you can include your clinical experience as experience on your resume.

Yes, you can but I've had instructors didn't recommend it. I have a lot of work experience so I wouldn't have had room on my resume' for the clinical experience.

A lot of my instructors only recommended listing the clinical locations, not the details of the clinical experience because it's a given that employers know what we were supposed to learn in the nursing program. On my resume, I listed it like this:

My Name, address:

Objective: blah blah

Clinical Experience: Clinical practicum has included experience at (list hospitals here)

Professional affiliations, awards and certifications : This is where I listed awards, scholarships, BLS certification current, etc.

Work History:

Education:

Do what the best format is for you. So far, the resume that I did, has gotten me interviews everywhere that I sent it. Your resume is a tool to get you in the door, then once you are in for an interview, it's time to sell yourself :)

Someone also recommended this site in a thread on this board. I used it when building my resume. Hope that helps!

If you have experience on your own then by all means no reason to include your clinical experience. But there are those who will read this thread that have your same question and by chance they need to know, it is ok to list your clinical as experience.. Good job hunting, and congrats to all new grads.
