Restudying for the NCLEX

Published

Hello all, it's been about two years since I have studied for anything (nursing wise). I was denied for the NCLEX more than a year ago, and want to be able to study soon, because I feel that they will allow me for testing this year.

So my question for everyone who had to wait a while before testing is, what online study program did you use to review everything that you forgot about? I know about kaplan and UWorld, but I'm not really looking for multiple choice reviewing, more like relearning diseases, interventions, processes, etc.

Thanks!

I passed! I passed a while ago haha. I tried reading the Saunders book but it was so condensed that I didn’t like the review for it.

Honestly all I did was UWorld. I did 75 questions a day and took both assessment tests. Whenever I did a question I always read the rationale for the answer and made flash cards for it on the UWorld account. I also did more research on a topic if I needed to know more about it. With the 75 questions a day, I also reviewed the flash cards I did. Made a schedule so that I could finish every UWorld question before taking the NCLEX, and I had about a week before taking the NCLEX so I did all the questions I markee were hard, like sata and ones that just boggled my mind. (Make sure to mark the SATA questions and the ones you think you need work on!)

I passed in 75 questions!

I am now a critical care nurse in my area and am still learning as I work! Let me know if you have other questions!!

WOW! that's so awesome! what happened with your license was it restricted? I'm in a similar situation with my petty theft case and I am terrified that I am doomed. Can you email me if [email protected] I'm overwhelmed by your story :,)

Why were you denied? Was it based on a criminal record?

It was because it was recent. He ended up getting it if you look through his previous post.

License was not restricted at all. Just had to wait a year to reapply because I choose not to appeal the denial. Didn’t believe I could honestly get accepted by them. I became a CNA and worked at a store as well! But my case is not on my record at all, did something called a pretrial diversion. But I had to explain the arrest still to the board. I hired a lawyer to help me with assembling the papers and he mostly just informed me of what to gather and reviewed it himself. Was worth it for sure if you need help!

I noticed you got it during school. Did you end up disclosing it to your school even though you were never convicted? Because I'm in the same situation?. It's such a relief hearing a success story similar to mine!

I never did, but you should. Your school will provide a lot of resources to help you be able to take the test as well, like letters of recommendation and such.

The arrest never showed up on your background for that last semester? If you dont mind can you email me or setup a phone call? I'm very interested to hear your story with the BRN please since its so similar to mine. It's such a relief to hear a success story!

Hey I'm curious as to how your school didn't find out? Because I got diversion as well but we have background checks every semester.

How did they not find out you were on diversion in your last semester since you were arrested in the Summer?

Hey any updates on how they didn't find out about going through diversion in your last semester since you were arrested in the Summer?

Sorry to bother you but how did your school not find out about your shoplifting case if you got arrested during the Summer?

The only way your school will be notified about the case is if you notify them yourself or through a background check. My school doesn’t do semesterly background checks. And I never told my school because I believed I was able to take my NCLEX without notifying them. Also the case was removed from my record so I didn’t feel the need to notify my school.
