Response time frame?

Published

I am a new grad and I had, what I believe, to be a very positive interview at a local hospital. If you know that the place will let you know one way or another, what kind of time frame should I expect? I asked the interviewers when I should expect to hear from them, but they didn't have an answer because someone else handled that, who was out of the office. I contacted that person, but recieved no reply. So I'm just wondering.... what's the average you have waited before you heard back from a potentional employer? And yes, I already sent follow up thank you notes.

I've waited about a week- but these weren't large hospital jobs- they were smaller facilities.

Unfortunately, it can vary depending on how may people need to be interviewed, how busy HR is, and whether they are in a hurry to fill the position or not. I have friends who have waited for over a month before they heard back about a job.

I'd try to call the person in charge again and ask when you should hear about the job.

After three weeks or a month of hearing nothing, I would definitely follow up so that you can stop wasting time and go back to the job hunt.
