Can anybody recommend a site/source for detailed info on administering medication restraints? I just started a job in an acute psych facility and want to review IM medications/drawing up and administration techniques (z track, sites, etc). I've looked at a couple threads on here but was wondering if anyone could recommend a comprehensive source (website/book/etc).

Thanks!

Home - American Psychiatric Nurses Association re restraints. They also offer a book regarding restraint consideration and policy.

However, you mentioned medications as a form of restraints, which is a big NO with TJC

A medication given for its intended purpose, to elicit a therapeutic response, is not a restraint. It is a therapeutic intervention.
