Resigning from 1st job after 8 months..

Nurses New Nurse

Hi everyone. Just wanting some support from anyone else in a similar position. Went through a great new graduate program but was ultimately unhappy with my place of employment for various reasons. Found a new position at another hospital, same specialty. I experienced A LOT of backlash/disappointment, gossip and overall negativity from my ex-coworkers when they found out I resigned after only being there for less than a year. I know I have let a lot of people down. I feel terrible. I am so grateful for everything that my previous hospital did for me, however... its my career and I need to do whats best for me...... right? I know in my heart this move will be for the best, but Im just feeling terrible and doubting my decision. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Rest assured that the hospital would have no guilty feelings about getting rid of you if it suited them and your coworkers will always do what is in their best interests with no thought to your opinion. Look forward to creating your own career with self determination as your motto. Good luck with the new job.

Yes, you are right. You do need to do what is best for you. I resigned from my first nursing job after 10 months, almost 11. There is a lot I could say as to why I did it, but to put it simply, it was not a good fit for me. Do I regret my decision? No. Did I learn a lot? YES! I am thankful for my co-workers who were helpful, and I miss them. I'm sorry to hear that there was negativity from your former co-workers. As tough as it is to find a job now, I know I made the right decision. You know yourself best, and if you know in your heart that you did the right thing, then you did. :)

Thank you guys for the replies.. I really appreciate the support. :0)
