Resident Services Director-Assisted Living

I just interviewed for a position in an assisted living facility as a resident services director. I think the interview went fairly well and I am confident that I am at least a contender for the position. However, towards the end the interviewer asked me about salary requirements. I was unsure of what to expect for this position because http://www.salary.com does not list this position exactly and I'm not sure what this position is most like as far as title goes. I said at least $15 an hour and she wrote it down but the more I think about the responsibilities associated with this position I am thinking it should be more. I am a little afraid that I undersold myself and may lose out on the position because I have no idea what the salary range for this type of position is. By the same token, I didn't want to say anything too high...:trout: Does anyone work this type of position in an assisted living facility and what are the responsibilities/salary range for this position?

I think what you've asked for is within reason; it depends on the part of the country you live in and what the market will bear. I'll be the first to admit that assisted living is NOT a terribly lucrative field for nurses, even with the level of responsibility; most buildings operate on a shoestring anyway, and if it's any comfort, the nurse is usually the highest-paid employee in the facility. (Even the administrator of such a place is lucky to make more than $35,000 a year where I'm from.) I'm an RN health services director for a 42-apt. ALF in Oregon, and I don't make nearly what I did in acute care; however, even though the responsibility is heavy, I love what I'm doing and wouldn't go back to the hospital for twice what I earn now.

Hope this helps, and good luck to you!

Good Morning:

I am a Wellness Services Director and just received a promotion to the Associate Executive Director. I started in Assisted Living in 2000 for Marriott and made $16.00 p/h...when I moved to Atlanta I made $18.00 p/h. I am 32 y/o I am now making close to $52000 plus commission. I would say try to stay $15 to $18.

Hope this helps.
