Research College Accelerated BSN

U.S.A. Missouri

Published

Has anyone here done the Accelerated BSN program at Research College of Nursing, in KC? I graduated in 2004 from CMSU, with a B.S. in public relations. I have changed my mind about my current career. I've always been interested in health care. My original major was Nursing, but I think when I was 18, I was intimidated by Nursing and all the courses. Now I wish I would have stuck to my original plan.

Does anyone know about the HCA Forgiveness Loan? I read this in my packet:

"Students may borrow up to full tuition during the AO program as well as receive reimbursement for the 15 hour residency courses at Rockhurst University in exchange for a 2 year employment commitment following graduation at any HCA Midwest Division Institution. This loan will become taxable income beginning at the time of employment."

Does anyone qualify for the forgiveness program? Any information about the AO option would be appreciated. Thanks :-D

Yep! I don't think financially I would be able to do it if it weren't for that program. So far that has been easy too.....:lol2:

I'm

Sorry, screwed up that last post....

I'm on this website every so often and I will certainly keep you posted as to how things are going this next year. Have you been accepted to the program yet?

Specializes in ICU.

I haven't applied yet. Is it hard to get into? Leslie advised that I apply later this fall or next spring, since I want to begin in August 2008.

Specializes in I got hurt and went to the ER once.
I'm actually starting the Accelerated BSN program at Research College of Nursing in August 2006, just a few months away :). I thought I would jump in and say that so far my experience with this program and the people has been wonderful! Everyone has been soooo helpful, Leslie is a wonderful resource for everything. They really know what they are doing and give you all the information you need to succeed! They leave no stone left unturned.

I too was in the corporate world for 10 years when I decided it just wasn't fullfilling at all! I graduated from KU with a degree in business and marketing. Now I've been taking prereqs for the past year and have loved every second of it.

Good luck to you both!

Sounds like Leslie could have her own fan club. I have nothing but good things to say about her as well.

I took A&P at Maple Woods last summer from Dr. Mark. It was one of the best and intsensive classes I ever took. (ranked right up there with graduate level Quantum Chemistry). He has a passion for A&P and keeps things very lively. It's a tough class.. but he made me look at the human body as something completely cool.

Slim,

BTW: I'm in the class of '07 too. Are you taking patho this summer?

I'm jumping out of the pharma and medical device manufacturing world for nursing. Just 90 days 17 hours and 26 minutes until school starts!

I think if you meet the minimum requirements and you apply early you should be good to go.

I agree, if you meet the requirments (2.8 GPA in undergrad) you should be fine. I applied in the spring of 2005 for August 2006...and boy has the time flown! I can't believe I start nursing school in a few month, 90 days as Darth says!

Darth,

Yes, I'm taking Patho this summer...it should prove to be a challenge. So far I've done great in my classes but I have a feeling this one could be different. Best of luck to you!
