Chemo Infusion Nurse and pregnancy
I need some advice! I am an oncology nurse who just accepted a position in a new chemo infusion clinic. I also found out shortly after that I was pregnant. When I spoke with the oncologist he said there would be minimal risk if I took all of the standard chemotherapy precautions (which I take very seriously). In our clinic we never mix chemotherapy drugs, that is all done by a pharmacist and we never spike any bags, they come already spiked with tubing primed with normal saline. So, my question is, is this really safe? I have not been able to speak with my OB yet to get her take on it all. I've been doing research night after night and I keep coming up with the same conclusion....half the people think you should never be near the stuff and half the people think it's ok with precautions. I'm so confused! Help!

Research College Accelerated BSN
I agree, if you meet the requirments (2.8 GPA in undergrad) you should be fine. I applied in the spring of 2005 for August 2006...and boy has the time flown! I can't believe I start nursing school in a few month, 90 days as Darth says! Darth, Yes, I'm taking Patho this summer...it should prove to be a challenge. So far I've done great in my classes but I have a feeling this one could be different. Best of luck to you! Slim

Research College Accelerated BSN
I'm actually starting the Accelerated BSN program at Research College of Nursing in August 2006, just a few months away :). I thought I would jump in and say that so far my experience with this program and the people has been wonderful! Everyone has been soooo helpful, Leslie is a wonderful resource for everything. They really know what they are doing and give you all the information you need to succeed! They leave no stone left unturned. I too was in the corporate world for 10 years when I decided it just wasn't fullfilling at all! I graduated from KU with a degree in business and marketing. Now I've been taking prereqs for the past year and have loved every second of it. Good luck to you both!
