Request part time after new grad orientation

Hi everyone, is it appropriate to ask to become part time after a new grad orientation (12 weeks). The hospital is an hour away and I’m on night shift. anyways, any thoughts on when should I ask from full time to part-time? So far I’m on week 6 of 12.  Is it better to ask right after I finish my 12-week orientation or at 6 months? Thanks!

If you were hired for full time the employer is expecting full time out of you. If you want part time instead, that is what you should have applied for. Even if they accommodate your request, there will be that impression that you made.
