Hello All,
I hope I am in the right place and not intruding, but could use some basic advice.
I work for a small company in China and my boss' niece is studying nursing at a local university. She is interested in elder or child care and came to me for advice on the possibility of working as a nurse in the west.
Now, me being an older guy and having almost no clue about nursing education, certification, or employment opportunities, I was hoping someone would at least point me in the right direction to find some information for this young lady.
She will finish a 4 year degree in nursing here in Dalian and would then like to obtain training necessary to work in some aspect of the nursing profession dealing with taking care of the elderly or sick children. I think she would be very happy in a smaller community that may be having difficulty attracting health care professionals if that makes any difference.
From my initial searches I understand that I am asking an almost impossible question given the wide range of nursing career paths, but I am at a total loss and would at least like to be able to give her something with which to start.
Thank you all for any advice you may have and bless you for the work you do.
Thanks,
Mike

If you are talking about nursing in the United States,.all Registered Nurses are liscensed through the state in which they work. They must graduate from an accredited nursing school and pass and exam (NCLEX). Upon passing the exam the state issues you your nursing liscense and you are an RN. What you choose to specialize in at that point is up to you,.we basically all have the same education as a new RN. Hope that helps.

Where is she hoping to work? Each country has their own requirements for working and licensure. Also if the US then she has a long wait as it is currently under retrogression
