Reporting to BOLC in March

Published

I will be going to BOLC in March, and i would like to know what happens if people don't pass the tape test or the PT test? Do they send people home? I'll make sure that doesn't happen, but it is on my mind. Thank you for any information.

I was misinformed. Things have changed in the pass six years.

Yep -- we were informed (emphatically!) that there were going to be repercussions for being PT failures, and that this was quite different from the past. A lot of people arrived with the idea that they would be "whipped into shape" during BOLC, and while we did do PT five days a week, it really wasn't realistic to expect that much improvement in some people in just a few weeks.

Actually two people did not pass their APFT during our March 2011 BOLC class. They were held over... as our AOC had another 4 mos of classes to take at fort Sam they let them go to class everyday (but not enroll) while they worked with trainers and literally took PT tests EVERY week for the next three months and had plenty of warning that their time was running out. One of them eventually passed the PT testand was only given constructive credit for BOLC, was allowed to enroll and pass the next course and continue on. The other, did not pass and was chaptered out of the Army. This took 7 mos additional sitting at FT Sam to be let loose from the time of their last APFT.

With our AOC (I'm not a nurse) looking at only promoting 80% of our class to CPT, having a constructive credit BOLC pass is probably not career promoting.

It's just really in your best interest to get in shape now.
