Repeating Classes

Our classes are based on passing 3 exams. If you should fail one and not achieve at least an 84 on the next, you will have to drop the course and start again a year later. Has this ever happened to anyone. If so how did you handle it. Does this policy exist in other schools.

The second semester seems to be the true weeding out time. Only about 1 out 5 actually stay after 2nd semester. Of those most have to repeat 2nd semester.

Thanx for responding Linda:o

There are several ladies in my class that are "repeaters"...I understand that if they fail this time they are done. And a couple failed last semester and they have to wait until Fall to try again. The policy (I believe) is that if you are borderline failing you are called into the nursing office and "counseled" about your grades...given a "learning contract" kind of thing and then you have to shape up or ship out so to speak - I think..not really sure cuz I didn't read the fine print.

We didn't have to make a certain grade on each test. There are a lot of repeaters though--especially in the second nursing course. It's a tough thing to go through, but at the same time, it's got to be a little easier the second time around.

If you do not complete our nursing courses with a 74% or above you fail the course. One course only has 4 exams and as of right now 5 out of 14 are failing. They really need to do well on the next two exams and the final to make it.

We lose a lot in the second semester, so I have quite a few in my class from then. I don't know, I think this last semester is tougher than 2nd was. We have to make a 78% to advance.

yep! We had twelve gals join us at the beginning of the second semester. We've only managed to lose about three or four since then. I have to admit to being amazed at the fortitude of waiting around a year to rejoin a class. i was very impressed by that.

We're only required to have a passing(78) score at the end of the semester. thankfully we don't have that fail then 84 policy otherwise our class would be alot smaller!
