Relocating to work in hondo texas

Published

IM IN THE MIDDLE OF DECIDING TO TAKE A POSITION WORKING IN THE ER AT MEDINA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL IN HONDO TEXAS. I HAVENT SIGNED ANYTHING YET SINCE I WILL BE MOVING FROM TENNESSEE TO TEXAS. I DID FLY OUT THERE FOR AN INTERVIEW AND THE HOSPITAL ASSURED ME THAT PAY WAS THE SAME AS THE SAN ANTONIO HOSPITALS BUT I FOUND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE SINCE THIS HOSPITAL IS SO RURAL AND SMALL. ANYONE KNOW OF THIS HOSPITAL? IM A ER NURSE, I WONDER IF ANY HOSPITALS IN SAN ANTONIO IS HIRING NOW AND WILLING TO RELOCATE? ANY COMMENTS ON THIS WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. HONDO IS ABOUT 30 MILES WEST OF SAN ANTONIO.:imbar

I just did a job search for San Antonio hospitals the other day - they are hiring. It just depends on what you want - extremely small town where you will probably transfer everything to San Antonio, or do you want to work in the big hospitals in San Antonio?

Thank you for your reply. I just found out that the ER position I interviewed for was really for a med-surg position. How crazy is that. The hospital totally wasted their money on sending me out there and I totally wasted my time. The guy at Martin & Fletcher said they screwed up and miscomuicated to him as well. My problem is I need to find a hospital that is willing to pay for relocation expenses. Ive been a rn for 8 years and have worked Level 1 trauma and the ER. Surely, there is a need for me somewhere with my experience and I also am a BSN. Well, maybe I can try another company who contracts with hospitals that needs good nurses. Until then, I still stuck! If anyone knows of a good recruiting company, please let me know.

So sorry the Hondo position did not work out. I worked with them as part of a former job, and I know that they are a great rural hospital.

I don't think you are going to find any urban hospitals with relocation funding for staff nurses these days. We're one of the few states still in hiring mode these days so we are reaping the benefit - nurses are relocating to Texas on their own. FYI, hospitals in my area are absolutely not using recruiters for staff nurse positions these days because it is an unnecessary expense. With your valuable experience & expertise, you would probably have more luck on your own dealing directly with the hiring facilities.

You may also be able to negotiate a relocation loan - paid off by working for them for a while. I am sure that in a couple of years, everyone will be back to offering recruitment inducements. Timing is everything - it's just the old supply & demand thing.

MedinaRN....

Came across your post as I was looking for who staffs Hondo's community hospital with travelers. I actually live in Hondo and commute to SA during the week to work. Do you remember who you were working with that tried to placed you at Medina Community Hospital?

Thanks,
