I'm not sure about your situation but I'm thinking about applying to work in the MICU or myelosuppression unit as a new grad nurse. I'm hoping I have better luck talking with Vanderbilt than with the local hospitals around here.

Everyone goes on and on about the nursing shortage in the rural areas but if you don't have 1-3 yrs. experience (or you're not their Great Aunt Betty's husband's uncles 2nd cousin) they won't call you back.

So I'm going to forget about Hicktown Hospital and gladly go where I'm just another number. At least everyone else there will be just a number, too. I've read not-so-great things about Vanderbilt on here but whether there is any truth to it or not I believe it will look better on your resume if a future employer reads it on your employment history.
