Relocating the the Macon Area.

I am relocating to Macon/Byron/Warner Robins area in July 2005. I would appreciate any and all help in locating a nice place to work. I am a Med/surg RN X4 years on a very heavy 38 bed unit. I don't know if I want to go back to this or do something new. Any suggestions around these areas?

You have lots to choose from. Houston CO hospital is in Warner Robins- a small hospital maybe 100 beds. Peach CO is in Ft Valley- real small like 40 beds. Macon has Medical Center 400 beds ? Big teaching hospital with all the latest technology and politics. Big Cardiac and Trauma Center. HCA and Macon Northside- smaller private hospitals 100-150 beds. I work at Health South rehab hospital--we got ortho, strokes, brain injuries like 4 days post op- still lots of med surg patients. We have 53 beds. Rehab is a different type of nursing but its not too crazy-- our patients are Physical, ot, speech therapy the majority of the day so you do get some down time. Great place to work espcially if your feeling run down and burnt out--we have our own set of problems but its really not a bad way to nurse-We are hiring too. Regency just opened up in Macon-they are also geared toward rehab but their patients are more acute. Ventalors, and drips, telemetery. They just got JACO approved and they have 34 beds and are on the up swing. They are also hiring, we lost alot of staff to them including a great DON--I hear their payscale is up there too....Good luck to youand feel free to look me up amy

I can't thank you enough for this information. I have done my homework. My Mom lives in Byron and I have visited Macon, and Warner Robins. Didn't like either of them. Warner Robins refused to tell me the going rate for a new RN and Macon helped with the going rate but the parking for this facility sucks. I really liked Colisium. I am a 4 year Graduate RN ADN I know this is going to hurt me. But, I really want to go into oncology, or Hospice in this area.
