I am going to be graduating with my BSN in December 2006. I plan to immediately relocate from Anchorage, AK to Houston, TX. I am wondering as a new grad what kind of pay I can expect in that area. I have looked online and have not been able to find any definitive answers. I am just curious for planning purposes. Thank you so much for your help and time. I look forward to your posts.

Any other suggestions for a new grad. relocating are welcome too. :)

Welcome to allnurses.com! I moved your post to the TX Statte Forum for more responses.

Good luck!

I've heard new grad pay is generally in the $21-23/hr range in the Medical Center (central Houston), which is a bit higher than what I've seen for other places in Texas.

Thank you for your help. :)

If you move to Houston take special care when finding a place to live. If you are new in town and want to be located close to work live somewhere of the metro rail (our train). This will take you in and out of the med center which equals no commute. Which in Houston is a miracle. If you are working out side the med center just make sure you drive your commute before signing a lease. Houston traffic is some of the worse in the country and can really make you miserable.
