Relocating to Colorado, advice with schools needed?!

Published

I am from Oregon, but looking to relocate to Colorado. I have completed all the pre-reqs for Oregon nursing schools and was hoping they were similar there.

I was Wondering how hard it is to get into nursing schools in the state, which ones were better, which ones were harder to get into, etc. Any advice and info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!:coollook:

The community colleges have pretty universal prereqs. Most are on a waitlist system (2-3 years). Some are merit based admissions which are very competitive.

The BSN programs each have their own set of prereqs with only some overlap. All are merit based admission and range from very competitive to extremely competitive.

I wouldn't move until accepted with a known start date. Also consider the new grad RN market is awful for CO.

For profit programs, associates programs, programs without CCNE/NLN accreditation, and new programs have less desirable clinical placements and less demand for their grads.

According to many, the big respected names are UCD, Regis, UNC, CSU, Metro State, and UCCS.

Depends on where you are moving to. Make sure you have an excellent GPA and research the school as much as possible. The wait lists are long (but I think most schools are moving away from them.) I was on the wait list for an LPN-RN program and finally decided to do another route. I waited almost 4 years and finally went elsewhere. And Summit is right. The job market for new grads is awful.
