a relatively new RN get a job working as a civilian with the Army?

The reason I ask is because the only RN openings I find on the cpol website want graduate level education, yet aren't NP's. I've found 2 LPN positions and wonder if I can apply to those as I REALLY want to try to get my foot in the door to my local Army Hospital as they've finally been approved to start building a new hospital. Do they even hire new RN's or just contract ones?

Drive to Louisville and work for Norton. I worked there too and it's a great place to work and only about 45 minutes up the road. You'll get really good experience.

I'm a former employee of Norton healthcare, but unfortunately they aren't hiring any external new grads. I actually got a face to face with one of the nurse recruiters. Since I don't have RN experience, my applications are automatically rejected. The other hospitals in Louisville are also sending me automatic rejections, but I keep applying anyway.

that's unfortunate...lpns do a lot of the same work for a lot less money. i'm surprised it doesn't count for anything. good luck.

I know. The only thing having been an LPN gets me now is higher pay if I do find a job as an RN. When I was an RNA with a Norton facility they gave me credit for 4 years RN pay-wise. I worked at a Norton facility as an LPN and loved the units I worked on (I floated). I learned a lot. It really is too bad that none of that counts as I try to get an RN position.

I'm also trying to in at IACH. It just seems impossible !

You could try calling the nurse recruiter directly. Just call the hospital and ask for the nurse recruiter's office. It didn't work for me as I don't have the magical 1 years experience everyone wants these days. But it might work for someone with experience.

Good Luck
