Tuition reimbursement comes with having a job, if that particular facility offers it. Right now not many hospitals anywhere are offering that or loan repayment programs, due to tightening their belts. You will have to ask if the facility offers that kind of program and what the qualifications are.

If you know where you want to work, go ask them if they participate in tuition reimbursement. Most of the time you have to make a written committment to that facility. I signed a contract with the hospital I wanted to work at, went to nursing school, they paid the bill, and I had to agree to work for them for X number of years once I graduated.

They're right. Tuition reimbursement will come with your job depending on where you work. At my first hospital job, tuition reimbursement was offered to all new grads and there was no contract obligation (it was a 1:1 payback, you work one month, they get reimbursed in that paycheck). Some hospitals have obligations like to work for 2 or 3 years there....

As far as study abroad, you should go to your study abroad campus at your school. They might be able to give you some guidance, and tell you about scholarships you can apply for. I want to tell you about a program I did this past summer, Critical language scholarship. I studied Arabic in North Africa. It's sponsored by the department of state and there's no government obligation. They covered everything! There's also the Boren scholarship (undergrad) and fellowship (grad), Fulbright (have to finish undergrad). My first study abroad experience was going on a missions trip for a month and shadowing in a clinic. I was able to raise support from local churches, family and friends. This website has a list of organizations in south america that accept volunteers: http://www.volunteersouthamerica.net/. There's also the Rotary club scholarship

Hope this helps. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. International health is one of my passions!
