Hello all,
I've just received permanent visa for Oz and was planning to move there in September.
However, I also received some corrrespondance from NBV about my registration request.
They r satisfied with everything except one thing:
I HAVE NO BIRTH CERTIFICATE
I was born in India at home and was never issued one. I have always used my passport. This was good enough for DIMIA and the ANMC but not for NBV
Because I have changed my name since birth (i.e married); my passport + marriage certificate will not suffice. The NBV are following their rules...which seems ridiculous.
Does anyone have any advice as to what I can do, as my dream of moving to Oz seems about to fail at the final hurdle?
Many Thanks

What documentation did you use to receive a passport? That should be respected as your birth confirmation.
That was my school certificates. When I started school, my parents were asked for my date of birth. Weird eh? but that's the way it is in India.
I have looked into this matter further and found the Nursing Board of Victoria's criteria used is:
"Passport required (if no change of name since birth)"
However, I believe that they are interpretting this incorrectly.
If u think of it logically...if my passport was in my new name...then fair enough...they would want evidence of what name I was born under.
However, because my passport is in my name at birth...this should suffice!!
Just found out that all other states accept statutory declarations....except Victoria.
Whats going on???????????
