Registered nurse from Melbourne, australia wanting to work in Texas.

Published

I'm a registered nurse from Melbourne, Australia. I would love to be working in Texas. I have no idea where to even begin this process. I know it's a hard long road ahead. But I'm willing to put the hard work in. Any ideas on where to begin would be great!

Starting point would be meeting state requirements for International trained and passing NCLEX. Links to the state board of nursing can be found at the bottom of the page

From what I understand the unemployment rate in Texas is very low compared to other parts of the US. If you PM me I can forward you some of the emails I have received from recruiters/employers that have contacted me recently. It seems Texas is definitely looking for RNs. Of course you would have to begin the process of obtaining an RN license which includes taking NCLEX. You qualify for an E3 Visa I believe but do not know anything about that process. I visited Australia many moons ago...lovely people!!!!

Really until they meet state requirements it is no good talking to recruiters as most if not all will want to know they have a license. Currently see some Australian nurses not meeting requirements due to deficiencies especially in obstetrics
