Though I'd make a thread for students who have been accepted and are attending for the Fall. Are you taking summer courses?

Did you end up deciding to go to Regis? I am enrolled in statistics for summer term 1 and nursing 101 in the fall

I am going to Regis in the fall. For summer 1, I am taking human growth, and summer 2, science review and nur 101 for fall. Did they not require you to take two non nursing courses?

Yes I only have statistics and Eng comp II to complete. I am taking stats this summer and eng next summer. They were both offered in the same summer session but I prefer breaking the classes up and taking them over two different summers anyways. Are you attending the uniform fitting on June 7? I already bought my littman stethoscope online but the price from the school seems comparable and u get a couple extras with the purchase.

Yes I'll be at the uniform fitting! I didn't buy the stethoscope yet, because I really didn't know which of the three were best. Do you have any idea?Meant to ask- are you in day program? I am.

No I am in the evening program. I bought the littman cardio III because of the reviews being so good. I have heard from a couple people that they were disappointed when they bought the cheap stethoscope and had to turn around and spend money on a better one. The sprague is definitely low end. I had actually bought one when I went through nursing assistant school. There is a difference between the sound quality of that compared to the littman. Hopefully you'll be able to test them out and see what one works best for you. I got mine engraved which was free online but the writing is small. I also paid for a name plate that is also engraved and goes on the area where the tubing comes together. I paid $160+ for mine but the plate piece was an extra $7. Read some reviews online to get an idea and price compare. When u go to the fitting you will know if u can get the scope that u want cheaper from school or online. The sprague is sold also at working gear and other stores that sell scrubs. I had bought mine at working gear. You may find that the least expensive one works perfect for you.

Hey I wanted to let you know I was wrong. I have a prestige medical stethoscope not a sprague. I just used both to compare and the littman is definitely louder but the cheaper one isn't bad I could hear breaths and heartbeats but I also tested it over my sweatshirt and the littman had no problem still picking up the sounds the cheaper one was a lot more faint. I'm in my 30s though so my hearing isn't as good as when I was younger so having better volume and crisper sound works best for me.

Haha thanks for he advice. Im pushing thirty, and I say my hearing is not as good as it once was! I'll be getting the better one:)

Ahh I just posted a thread but since this is recent - When did you guys apply/what were your grades like before? Do you goto Regis already or starting there for the program?

I applied the end of feb. All As in my pre reqs aside from 18yrs ago when I went to school for 1 semester. Did not go to Regis prior to applying. I an taking statistics at Regis starting May 14 and will start nursing this August.

You can only transfer 6 classes though, didnt you have to retake a good amount?

No I did not retake any classes. I think you are confusing your psych degree classes with the nursing degree. Not all your psych degree classes are going to have anything to do with the nursing degree. There are only 10 non nursing courses that are required to get your assiciate RN degree. A couple of the classes will differ depending on what school you go to.. example some programs require College algebra some require statistics. LM will allow 6 of the 10 non nursing to be taking elsewhere and transfered in although they will allow a 7th. which means 7 of the classes can be taken at a different school and then the remainder 3 will be taken at LM. Now one of those 10 classes is actually NU 404 which is taken anytme after taking Nursing 101 so I guess there are really only 9 classes that are not nursing related.

I already had Eng comp I and intro to psychology from 1995 but into to psych is not part of the nuring curriculum at LM so that is not considered one of the classes to be transferred over for the associates , for the bachelors possibly but for the associates it is not relevent.

Algebra and Chem are separate from the 7 classes because they are not part of the degree but are needed before you can even be accepted to the program.

I had taken before applying to the program

algebra, chem class , biology pre-reqs for anatomy & nursing program

part of the actual nursing program

Eng COMP I

Human Growth

Sociology

A&P I

A&P II

Micro

I applied to LM with the above classes and at the time I was taking

Ethics

LM is taken my Ethics class as a transfer so in all that is 7 classes that I am transfering in to LM that apply to the actual nursing degree program.

I only have left

statistics which I am currently taken at Regis

Eng Comp II which I will take next summer also at Regis.

If I took all my classes before applying to LM then I would have to pick at least 2 of the classes to retake at LM. If that was the case then I would choose 2 of my 3 credit classes. class time is shorter and on average they are not as difficult as the 4 credit science course. I would have probably chose a Eng and a sociology to repeat if given the choice. Where do you live because all non nursing classes that are for Lawrence Memorial are to be taken at Regis in Weston Ma. Now for me that is an hour ride home at the end of the night. I sure wouldn't want to have a 5 hour science class after working all day and then drive home for another hour. So you will have to plan accordingly for what will work best for you.
