Make a list of questions to ask and things you might want to say about yourself. That will give you things to talk about. Remember, no one really WANTS to be there and everybody is there for the same reason -- to "hook up" and make a successful employer/employee match. So, there is no need to pretend otherwise. Put a smile on your face, say "please" and "thank you" when appropriate and have a list of questions to ask.

I am attending a get together/recruitment dinner this afternoon at Children's hospital. I will be graduating May 08 and even though I am not at all a "social butterfly" when my friends told me you could get a chance to meet nurse recruiters and supervisers,I decided to go. Well now I am SCARED TO DEATH. It sounds stupid I know but I am scared I will be standing there like a stupid asparagus, not talking to anyone because I do not know who to talk to nor what to talk about. Has anyone ever been to one of those dinners?
