I've started working agency and come from an oncology background. Therefore, my EKG/telemetry reading skills are extremely limited. Can anyone recommed a good basic skills book? Something that walks you through basic cardiac and learning to read strips. Reading strips is not mandatory for the facility I work at, but I would love to know what I'm actually looking at when the lead nurse is looking over them and know what the monitor tech is seeing when she calls and says, "Mr Jones in 1111 is in 2nd degree av block with a 9 beat vtach". Thanks very much.

It looks difficult, but honestly if you use a systematic approach every time you read and ECG, it's rote memorization as to what's normal and what's not.
I like a book by Conover: http://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Electrocardiography-Mary-Boudreau-Conover/dp/0323019056
