Recently moved to Ohio as a new graduate RN and can not find a position...any advice?

U.S.A. Ohio

Hi,

I recently moved to Columbus Ohio from Bethlehem Pennsylvania where I went to school. I had a position waiting for me after graduation but I had to move for personal reasons. Since March I have been applying through HR and sending out my resume...and I have had no call backs at all!!

If anyone has any advice please let me know :)

Thank you

Angela

Where have you been looking: the hospitals are not in any great need apparently and they are spoilt for choice and want only experienced nurses.

For now try LTC or consider moving to PA if they will still have you?!

Also think about getting licenses in PA or KY/IN to increase your options, and also consider volunteering in the hospitals where you would like to work..dont give up yet, trust me they ALWAYS need nurses, so the key to sanity is hanging in there!

Get out of the house daily, volunteer and chat up some local nurses!

Thank you!!

The nurse manager for my old job called me and is still interested in having me come back to PA with a position waiting for me....

Just wish I had the same opportunity here, I am going to get licensed in PA but try to give it a little more time before I give up on Ohio.

It is so true....just have to keep my sanity through the process of starting off my career!!

Thank you :)

If it makes you feel any better, I applied to numerous hospitals and I have 6 1/2 years experience (3 in ICU). I only heard back from 2 and it took months. By that time, I decided to move closer to home and accepted another job. I was kinda shocked at how I heard nothing--because there were pages and pages of RN openings!
