Recently moved to Florida

Published

Hi all,

I recently moved to the Tampa Bay Area from a hospital in Missouri. I have been a nurse for almost 3 years, yet after moving down here, I feel like a new nurse all over again. The difference between what nurses are required to do here in Florida compared to my old hospital in Missouri is like night and day! Here in Florida they make the staff nurses do things the docs and case managers did at my old work. Here they make the nurses schedule follow up appointments, responsible for having consent forms signed, and for entering home meds list and allergies for admissions as well as a long list of other things. On top of that, this hospital requires at least double if not triple the amount of charting I'm used to! i have heard most hospitals in Florida are like this.

My question here is, has anyone else moved from another state and felt the same way?

Suggesions/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
