  1. Chacha82, thank you for sharing! I'm glad you like urgent care. I'm definitely between a rock in a hard place right now. If the urgent care I interviewed at had more than one nurse per day (12 hour shift) I would definitely take it. I have a lot to think about and I appreciate your perspective!
  2. Wow, it sounds like your urgent care is better staffed for sure! I feel like here in Florida, they like to short staff almost everywhere.
  3. Would you say an urgent care is actually faster paced than a hospital? ( for example:faster-paced than med/surge floor, PCU, cardiology?)
  4. OldDude, thank you for sharing! So I take it that you work in a large urgent care with more than one RN correct? I recently interviewed at an urgent care that is rather small but sees 50-60 patients per day on average with only one RN working at any given time, with 2 MA's, a physician, and a RT(radiology technician). I'm concerned about how the work atmosphere would be like being the only RN. Having worked at an urgent care, what are your thoughts on that?
  5. Hi all! I am looking to work in a more laid back setting. The hospital is starting to wear me out and I've interviewed at many primary care doctors offices but haven't landed a job yet, as it's quite competitive/difficult to get a job in a doc office. That has then led me to urgent care nursing. Has anyone worked in urgent care ? If so, do you think it is more laid back than a hospital environment? Any stories or suggestions are most welcome! :)
  6. I 100% agree with you! I have been a bedside nurse for almost 3 years and I feel so burnt out! I just feel like it's not worth the stress. I would honestly rather make less money and be less stressed than be stressed to the breaking point and make more money. I'm at the point of leaving the bedside and finding a nursing job away from the hospital completely. Health care has been destroyed by the fact HCAP scores are now the number one priority. Life is too short!
  7. Thank you!
  8. Hi all, I recently moved to the Tampa Bay Area from a hospital in Missouri. I have been a nurse for almost 3 years, yet after moving down here, I feel like a new nurse all over again. The difference between what nurses are required to do here in Florida compared to my old hospital in Missouri is like night and day! Here in Florida they make the staff nurses do things the docs and case managers did at my old work. Here they make the nurses schedule follow up appointments, responsible for having consent forms signed, and for entering home meds list and allergies for admissions as well as a long list of other things. On top of that, this hospital requires at least double if not triple the amount of charting I'm used to! i have heard most hospitals in Florida are like this. My question here is, has anyone else moved from another state and felt the same way? Suggesions/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
