I am going to take the TEAS Test on Friday Oct. 26th. I have studied the ATI study guide and I have read other threads regarding the test. But, some say it's a hard test and some say it's pretty easy, and that the study guide is much harder than the actual test. Has anyone taken it fairly recently that wouldn't mind sharing some pointers???
If you take the computerized version, don't skip questions! If you don't know the answer pretty quickly, give your best guess (even if it's completely random, though you should try to eliminate any obviously wrong answers), write down the question number, and move on. You're not penalized for a bad score, so it's better to maybe be right than skip it entirely since many people don't have much time, if any, to go back. Especially since going back is a seriously time consuming process, at least where I took it.
I am taking the Teas test January 30th been studying since November and i still feel nervous i study everyday and the skillstutor site helps just go to that site and to login type in this order math1 math1 tech01 once you get in you will see it helps tremendously especially with math and science review tell me how you like it. Although i am studying the math i so suck in that area and am afraid i will mix everything up on the test and run out of time for the math do anyone have examples of the math questions you saw on the test especially the metric conversions Thank you LPN wanted so desperately to be an RN went in this field for the geriatric pts they are my love the reason i get up and go
I just took it last week. It's really not that bad, and yes the study guide seems a little harder just because it wants to make sure that you know every aspect of what the actual test is gonna test you on.
To be quite honest, I never studied for the TEAS test. The first time I ever took it, I came in to the testing room and I was sick as hell. I was coughing all over the place, I couldn't breathe through my nose, and my throat hurt real bad. A couple days later, I got my test results and I ended up getting an 80%.
So overall, it's really not that bad. It's basic questions that it asks. Questions at high school level, to be exact. Just make sure you know how to add, subtract, and do basic algebra (for the math section). The toughest part of the test is the science section.. it's the only section on the test that's actually based on college level courses (so make sure you really know your stuff on chemistry and physiology).
Oh.. also, for the math section make sure you know shortcuts on working out the problems because you won't have enough time if you try solving it the long way. There's another thread in the Pre-Nursing forum concerning on how to go about in doing that. And, one tip: make sure you read the questions carefully because it can get tricky.
Just focus and don't let anything distract you.
Hope that helps, and good luck to you!
IndyMitchell i read where you said you only had a couple of algerbra question. What were the other math questions on being that i am a mathaphobic i need all the help i can get look forward to hearing from you.
Don't forget how to convert pounds to kg's, that is the only thing I can remember now. I took the test a year ago. I'm sorry. I only passed algerbra with a C, and I made it thru the math.. Breath, relax and focus. The lord will help you if you ask him to,,, I always ask him to help me relax.!!!

Hey ToreyJane. Good luck to you tomorrow. Let me know how the TEAS test goes for you tomorrow and if the study guide was a big help.
I plan on taking the TEAS in February 2008. I'm like totally stressing out because the TEAS is the main factor of determining whether or not I'll make it into Grossmont's LVN program at the Health Occupations Center. Getting in next year would mean a real career acceleration for me and bypassing all of the FOREVER-waitlists at the local community colleges. I know I'm only 17 as of now (I turn 18 next April), but I really want to jump start my career as a nurse. There will be 300 people taking the exam next February and only the top 60 will make it in. The thought of this number totally makes me go crazy.
As of now, I memorized like nearly half of the ATI TEAS study guide. The science totally screws me over because some of the questions I just don't understand. But when I look at the answers in the back I try to reason it out and it kind of becomes clear to me.
Anyhow, the best of luck to you toreyjane. Any suggestions about how to go about studying for that pesky test would be greatly appreciated. Good luck.
