Hi everyone!!
I m new to this website and nursing in general. I just graduated college less than a month ago with a degree in communications. i have been considering going back to school for a degree in nursing because I believe I will not be able to find a decent job in the communications field. People have always said you would be such a good nurse because you are compassionate. Can someone please tell me what the characteristics of a good nurse is? it would really benefit me and help me sort out what I want to do with my life. Can someone give me some advice. Should I try to stick it out for a few years in my chosen profession or should I apply to a accelerated nursing program. Is it right to do something based on what is a reliable, steady profession. I m definitely in a post college crisis.
Thank You

Kara,
Spend some more time on this site and you will discover that you have been mislead - nursing is no longer a 'reliable steady profession'... new grads are unable to get jobs. It has been said before (far more eloquently) ... Nursing requires too much hard work and commitment to serve as a means of escape or avoidance. That will only lead to disappointment and more stress/unhappiness.
You've only been out of school for a month. On this forum, you will discover that there are nursing grads from > 1 year ago who have been unable to find a nursing job. Keep looking for work with the understanding that you will most likely have to accept a lower level position just to get your foot in the door.
