Rearranging the office furniture

So this week I finally cracked it with my office set up. It was so formal like a bank managers office or a school principles office circa 1998, yet with tones of excess store room with a collection of odds and ends in it.

It may be that it is spring here in Australia but after clearing it out I got maintenance to move my horrible avocado coloured desk through 90 degrees and it has made such a change to the space.

The flow feels so much better and the general feel is so less formal. Now to get rid of the 80s cop show style filing cabinet and I will be much happier.

The general feedback from colleagues is positive as is from the staff....who joking said I may actually spend time in it now as I have a reputation for being on the ward....

Congrats on having a job, where you have your own office, even if you will not spend much time in it.. :) I am still working my way up to my own office. In the mean time, as a front-line manger I have experienced sharing space (to include a desk) with others of my title and so I am not used to having my own space to decorate. And like you, we do not spend much time in an office, so the look of our office does not matter a great deal.

How did you decorate your space? Do you have a lot of family/friendship pictures? Do you have sayings? Is it theme driven?

Soon I will only be sharing space with one other person and I will get my own desk for the first time! So, I am hijacking your thread to get ideas on how to decorate my space. I would like something not stale and boring but also not over the top! :) Any ideas?
