Hi I was wondering if anyboby that didn't get in for Fall admission was going to reapply for January admissions. If so has anyboby went to get their file back from the nursing office. I went to get mines back shortly after receiving my oh so sad letter. When I went they said all I had to do was fill out a form for renewal of application and bring in my updates before September 30th and that I didn't have to attend another application meeting. Was wondering if anyone else was told the same. I been hearing that I would need to attend another application meeting. Doesn't make sense, but just wanted conformation.

SillyRabbit,

I seen that nobody has responded so I thought I would bump it up for you, as well as, tell you my observations.

When I went to the application meeting there were people there that were reapplying and were told to come up to the front first. This is just my opinion or question, but why would they even come to an application meeting if they didn't have too?

If I were you...I would go to the application meeting just in case and do it at one or two meetings before the 30th...this way if there is a change in policy or for some reason they misinformed you or others you still have time to make things right. If they tell you that you don't have to be there and you can just go to the office to turn in your stuff, then at least you covered all your bases and didn't take their word for granted.

This of course I just my opinion based on my own personal observations of the program....Never, ever, accept the first answer as truth...Always, Always, keep digging until you have absolutely crossed all your T's and dotted all you i's. Good luck and I hope you get accepted for January!

Hi,

I was going to respond a few days ago. I agree w/everything SerenityRN2b2010 said.

I'm sure the NUR office is in turmoil because of the move. If it was ME in your position, I would go & get my application packet & tell them I will turn it in myself at the next application meeting. Things tend to get lost (take it from me--a 4th term student).

And as Serenity said, NEVER, EVER, accept the 1st answer as truth. :nono: Also, talk to CAROL--the NUR office secretary & NO ONE else. One person doesn't know what the other is doing around there. It's really a trip!

Good luck to you.

Carol is a godsend! I only talk to her and if I get anyone else I ask for Carol LOL...She is the only one who seems to know what she is talking about....She needs a promotion!

Thanks Aunt Nana and Serenity for your responses. I really appreciate your advice. I talked to Ms. Burkhart (the dean) that's why I was sure that it was O.K. It was people there that were reapplying when I went to the application meeeting on April 29th. I have copies of all the information I turned in from my file what I was going to do was go and get a copy of the form I filled out (renewal of application form). I was just trying to save myself an extra trip to another meeting. I figured as long as I hacve copies of everything than it will be O.K. Maybe I'll just do like you guys suggest. Thanks a Bunch. Good Luck in orienation.

hello Silly Rabbit,

I wanted to let you know my experience, just to give you food for thought. The school I was dealing with is not in MI, but every state's nursing program is like this right now. I got information for the DEAN and it was not the best advise for me. So you should really go to one of the meetingsit will show you have a lot of tenasity "persistence" and you mean business on getting into the program. That is what you competition is most likely doing.

Again, just food for thought- for one persistent nursing student to another! LOL GOOD LUCK:heartbeat

Hi,

I have to add something else too. I went into the NUR office just last week. I was one of the students fortunate enough to get the MI nursing scholarship. I had applied around Thanksgiving last year. Now a new year is upon me so I inquired whether I had to reapply for this next term or what. The DEAN told me NO, that was not necessary. The very next day I got a form in the mail which I have to fill out & turn in so that I will qualify for the scholarship this year. (Carol was not in the office.)

So, again... Take NO word as the final answer. (Form is filled out & back at the office) Now I pray they don't lose it!
