Really want to be a HH RN

Published

HI

I have sent out my resume to Bayada and anyother HH agencies in my area. No one is calling me back. I have 1yr of Med surg exp along with some LTC experience. Not sure why I am not getting calls. ANy advise on how to get into HH?

Thanks

Try gathering up your employment papers and going to the office in person. You might get hired on the spot, or you might get an appointment to come in later for an interview. Worst that can happen is that you are told that they are not hiring for now. Nine point five times out of ten, I have been hired immediately when I have gone in person. Good luck.

A lot of places want someone who has OASIS experience. If you can get hired PRN and then move into a full-time position later, you might find more doors open. I've also discovered the magic words to be, "I'm happy to rotate weekends and take call." Works like a charm, at least it has for me. Oh, and if you know any nurses who are working in home health now, ask if they have openings at their agencies and for a recommendation.

Good luck!
