Is it only the really intelligent people who has exceptionally high I.Q. who pass NCLEX-RN the first time?
Because I have friends who admire those who passed the first try and doubt the intellectual abilities of those who passed the 2nd try (or more).

I think your stress level plays a HUGE role in how you test. I am usually a good test taker but before I sat for NCLEX I was a sack of nerves as everyone is. Not only do you have to study an inordinate amount of material but you can't work in the field you spent so long preparing for until you pass. Oh... and lets not forget the stigma of the "F" word. There is so much pressure it's a mirage people pass! :icon_roll

Approximately 85% of the people who graduate from US nursing schools pass on the first try. That 85% MUST, by definition, include those of a wide range of inteligence levels.
Think about it. That's 85% of the total population of graduates. They can't all be at the top of the class.
