Real nail completely coming off.

April 29th I ended up trapping my thumb in a car door resulting in breaking the bone and a black/purple bruising immediately showing under my nail. (have acrylics on)

i was advised by the doctors it will not fall off but unfortunately the nail is now hanging and i'm keeping it held on with a plaster.

When the nail comes off, what can I do to prevent infection and further damage. Also I want to put some protective on it, what's the best thing to put on it but also that it breaths so it drys.
