I need some HELP:
I will be taking the Nclex next week and I am worried. This test is consuming my life because it is all I can talk about, but I am glad that it will be over soon. My question is I don't know if I am ready. I have been using several CD-roms to help me study. I have the Kaplan CD; however I have scored in the high 60's. I believe that the highest number I have gotten was 69%. SO, all of you Nclex vets, what were your scores on the pre-tests? Around what number would be good for me to achieve to pass. I just don't want to take this test again!!!
Thanks

I also took Kaplan, the review course. Kaplan states that if you are consistently scoring in the 60's or above on their tests you should be in good shape. Continue to work as many questions as you can prior to taking the test. I thought Kaplan's questions were about the same difficulty level as NCLEX. I know it is discouraging to be scoring the the 60's, but to keep it in perspective, when you take and PASS NCLEX you are only getting about 50% of the analysis and application questions right. By the end of studying for NCLEX I was scoring about 70% on Kaplan and felt pretty confident. I passed NCLEX with 75 questions of the first try. I thought NCLEX was the hardest test I have ever taken!! If you have other questions let me know. Good Luck!

Obnurse,
Kim told you exactly what I would say. You're in great shape to take the NCLEX. Keep plugging away until about 2 days prior then take your last 265 Kaplan test if you haven't done so already. If you have, find some other way to take a "mock" NCLEX and prepare yourself to go all the way.
You most probably won't have to do all the questions on the NCLEX, but it helps your confident to know you CAN take them all. Remember to practice your breathing and relaxation techniques, they can be a life-saver if you have anxiety like most of us.
Also, make yourself take breaks. If you go past 75 its a good idea to get up, go the bathroom, splash water on your face and look in the mirror. Tell yourself "I have worked hard for this and I KNOW the answers."
You can do this, we believe in you.
God Bless,

I just wanted to thank you guys for the advice. I felt that I was not ready to take the Nclex by only scoring in the 60's on the Kaplan tests. It makes me glad to hear that the Nclex is similar to the Kaplan tests. I know that my weak area is Psych and OB, so I have been trying to study those areas! Once again, thank you!

Best of luck to you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I'm right behind ya, taking NCLEX on the 27th. Keep us posted on how you do, try not to stress too much ( yeah, right!) and try not to cram a few days before the test. You can and will pass this test!

geez, i'm getting nervous myself. I will be taking my 2nd try of NCLEX on the 17th. I took the kaplan course after doing some self study for the first one. I've been doing the cd that came with kaplan and i'm getting so anxious for it.. I can't sleep at night. I dream about nursing theories and what to do when my patients have hypoglycemia, in shock, etc.. before i go to bed i recite the lab values, how freakish is that?.. heheheh.. yeah good luck next week and i'll keep you guys posted with mine.
