Ready to Apply CT Community Colleges- Nursing Program 2012

U.S.A. Connecticut

ooops... The other one had 2011 instead of 2012... let's try this again:

Just thought I would start a new thread for the current application cycle. Questions... stats... rumors... etc!

My question is... for those applying this cycle, how did you do on the TEAS V? Since this is the first year they are using this test, it would be nice to see how everyone is doing.

(Please don't post TEAS 3 or TEAS 4 results, as the scores are NOT comparable with the TEAS V.)

@nvccstudentnurse, can you remember around what date the first semester ended? My sister in law is getting married Dec 22 in Jamaica and we need to be there 2 days in advance. Sorry a little off topic:)

Hi I'm new here! I was reading all of your posts and am very nervous too! I applied to NVCC as my first choice and unfortunately, I had a problem with my transcript from my other school. I know the school received it 2 years ago, but for some reason they couldn't find it. So I received the "ineligible" letter and went back to the school with the original receipt (the deadline for reviewing was March 26th). the lady accepted it and said that I was all set. Now, I read that some other students had the same issues...do you guys think that they really put us on the eligible list or that they don't consider us? I'm so nervous that I can't even type right now :( anyways...I'm very nervous about that! They did update my file online a day before it went offline. I wish everyone good luck and hope you get in! :) I appreciate any answers :) thanks!

allforthekids- i've been at 3 different community colleges over the past three years, and never once have any of our classes gone past the 16th. I think you could probably check the academic calender for this year. I'd ASSUME that clinical would coincide with the regular semester, but i'm not well qualified enough to know that. ps-where in jamaica? just got married last year and went for my honeymoon

nursewannabe - if they updated your files, you should be all set. mine was fine, and everything listed as "met", although I had a slight roadbump because i was just married, and changed names halfway through the process. in any case, you'll know soon enough, but you should be good!

@saramisu

I sent you a reply, not sure if you got it. but I was saying thank you so much! it feels like a relieve now! I was just wondering how the ranking worked...I read on last year's thread that all the papers of the accepted students were dated back to the 28th of March, even though they received the letters 2 weeks later...So I'm just worried...I handed in my transcript on march 26th (monday), and it went offline that following thursday/friday. I would like to know what day they did the ranking/lottery, but I don't think we will find that out :)

did you apply for this fall? at what school?

I applied to ccc. I think they spend a huge chunk of time ranking everyone, then send inelegibility letters, and add in those who in fact Did have the proper documentation in. Although they make mistakes, I'd bet most people who are ineligible are so because they really did forget something. Anyway, where did you apply??

I applied to NVCC. well look, I applied 2 years ago at NVCC. I brought them my transcript in an envelope to school on the 16th of Jan. 2010. and guess what, they had a paper with the stamp on it, but not the official transcript! So it's not that I forgot to do it, the school just never told me! I never received a folllup-up email in january that something was missing. plus the red sentence online "that the NGPA will be evaluated after Febr 1st" made me believe that we won't know the GPA until some time in february and since they didn't sent me an email in January, I assumed everything is fine...until I got that ineligible letter which really made me mad! but the lady was very nice about it, bc they did have the paper saying that the transcript was in. IDK what the heck happened to my transcript, but whatever...as long as they put me on the eligible list I'm happy. I'm so worried that they didn't though...since the letter came from the State of CT....we shall see next week! yea I would really like to know how the perform the ranking haha with 350 applications lol

Thanks for all the suggestions, and encouragement. I'll have to see if I can make a summer class work only thing is it looks like most are full now and I would need to find one that won't really interfear with my work schedule. I just hope that if I get into the nursing school I get in to the spring session. If not I'll push through it in the fall, you do what you have to sometimes. I'm sure I'll make it. This has been a long week so far that's for sure!

I know I'm a little ahead of myself here but on mycommnet the clinicals are listed as Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 7-11. I assume this is because your clinicals could be assigned on any of those days on either 7-3 or 3-11.. but the clinicals are only two days out of the three possible right?

allforthekids - If you go onto mycommnet and go through the steps to register for nursing 101 online, the semester dates are listed on the right hand side. Idk where you applied but for CCC it's 8/29-12/17 so that should work out ok for you. : )

Thank you eerrmm, I applied to NVCC and I checked yesterday and the date goes to 12/23, I knew that couldn't be right since the 23rd is a Sunday, but I wasn't sure if classes would go to the 21st, which would be pushing it,lol.
