reading part of the NET(HOBET) tricks and tips?

Hey everyone!!

i was just wondering.. Ive been reading a lot about how confusing the reading part is to this test.. has anyone ever found a technique working around these problems?? besides the obvious read the question before the passage type of thing..

thanks

I'm new... I took the NET test about 2 weeks ago (paper & pencil). I haven't gotten the results back. But my suggestion would to make sure that on the Main Idea type questions that the answer answers: who what when where why & how.

Hopefully I'll get the results soon and let you know if that worked out for me, but I felt good about it while I was doing it. I got rushed towards the end. And distracted a few times. The only other person taking the test kept asking questions

When I took it recently I read the questions over very quickly before reading the paragraphs. For me it made it easier to answer them and do well time wise. I did ok overall on it. I was surprised that I did better on the math section than the reading.

Good luck!

when reading the NET study guide there is part that explains how to master the reading part..to read with a "purpose". meaning read the question first and then read the passage, that way you know what your looking for...for some depending on how the test is administered, this tactic may not work...i have bombed the reading portion 2x, will attempt it again before this yr is out...

hmm... ive taken the recent NET test for the 2nd time and I bombed the science reading comprehension part again! I was sure I answered all my questions decent enough to get a passing grade.

I have a question; does the reading rate have anything to do with the reading section of the test? If I can't answer all the questions for the reading section is it better to leave it blank or just guess and fill in the bubbles? B/c I noticed the girl next to me couldn't finish either and she stopped at questioni 20 or something. Or am I just too damn stupid.... geez I'm sad. :sniff:
